On 15 March 2019, at 19:00 at the St. John's Church in Riga, the Latvian Radio Choir and its conductor Sigvards Kļava will present a new concert programme Divine Silence. The programme will present two premieres - I write (Es rakstu) by Ēriks Ešenvalds and The Mystery of Silence (Klusēšanas noslēpums) by Alfrēds Momotenko. Both composers were inspired by the poetry of St. Silouan the Athonite. The programme features two opuses based on Boris Pasternaks’ poem Easter (На Страстной), scores composed by Arturs Maskats and Alfrēds Momotenko.
The concert, dedicated to the time of suffering, also comprises opuses created by James MacMillan and Tigran Mansurian who both celebrate their anniversary this year, in addition to Ora pro nobis by Latvian composer Juris Karlsons.
