A captivating program brought to life by the Latvian Radio Choir in collaboration with two outstanding women conductors of the new generation.
This performance intertwines darkness and light, night and day, the feminine and the masculine. Guiding the chariots of the sun and moon are two conductors - contrasts in harmony.
The first part explores Jānis Šipkēvics's (project Shipsea soloist) mystical piece Doma iet un atnāk atpakaļ play with the rhythms of language and abstract soundscapes. Pēteris Vasks' Mūsu māšu vārdi and John Tavener's spiritual Svyati delve into the dimensions of the soul and the spiritual world. The program concludes with a movement from Pēteris Butāns' cycle Lux aeternum, which unites the moon's image with the symbolism of eternal light.
The second part is dedicated to the sun – its light, warmth, and symbolic significance. Pēteris Plakidis' choral symphony excerpt Zeme and Andrejs Selickis' Saule austrumos reflect Latvian composers' perspectives on the themes of light and the creation of the world. S. D. Sandström’s poetic Ah! Sun-flower. The part concludes with young Slovenian composersTadeja Vulc's meditative Sine sole, which provides a deeply personal interpretation of the sun’s essence.
